Mutual and Federal Talks Resume
Following the late cancellation of the planned protest action in KZN on Wednesday 2 June 2010, Mutual and Federal have met with us in good faith and with agreement to progress talks further on the 23 June 2010.
The resolve of the meeting on 2 June was that Mutual and Federal will now revisit their position on the implementation of dual assessment centers in KZN. They will also review rates in this region in line with current contractual obligations. Mr Sedick Isaacs, executive head at mutual and federal also committed to providing us with an escalation mechanism with regards to members complaints, which will include a regional representative of M&F as well as a national representative. He stated that this goes in line with the companies policy of transparency and also assured us that members are guaranteed open lines of communication and no member of SAMBRA will be victimized or prejudiced in any way. The customers right to choose a repairer free of any inducement, provided the necessary standards are in place, is a point that we will further discuss at the meeting on the 23rd June, however it is positive to note that this point was debated positively and with an open mind. This is a point which was contained in the ABSA agreement. The OSC process is set to be finalized in the next two weeks and there was a commitment to present this to SAMBRA for review prior to the roll out nationally.
I would like to personally thank MR Isaacs for taking the time and consideration of our requests and concerns. I am optimistic that this will be the start of a strengthened long standing relationship going forward.
Thank you to those KZN members who had turned up in the numbers on the day and have travelled far and wide to show their support. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
